Meet the Staff

MarshallDr. Marshall Zieman, Pastor/Head of Staff

A native of the Midwest, Marshall grew up near Kansas City, graduating from Wichita State University with a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration. A Master of Divinity Degree was earned at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School near Chicago. A Doctorate of Ministry Degree was earned at Fuller Theological Seminary in California.

As newlyweds, Marshall and his wife, Becky, served as church planting missionaries in Spain. It was through the encouragement of Spanish elders that Marshall sought ordination to become a pastor.

Marshall’s first call as a pastor was to West Hills Presbyterian Church in Omaha where he was ordained in 1992. He served at West Hills as their Pastor of Children, Families, and Caregiving. Marshall served the next 20 years as an Associate Pastor at Highland Park Presbyterian Church in Dallas, overseeing the ministries of Children, Youth, and Outreach.

Always a proponent of world mission, Marshall has served as a Trustee of The Outreach Foundation of the Presbyterian Church. For the past 25 years, Marshall has travelled with church mission teams to Eastern Europe, Cuba, Central America, and Africa. He has conducted numerous teaching seminars in Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, Belarus, and Moldova on topics related to children's and youth ministry and pastoral care. In recent years, Marshall has focused his travels in the Middle East, visiting and encouraging the Presbyterian Church in Lebanon and Syria, Iraq, Pakistan, and Egypt. Since coming to Church of the Cross, Marshall has participated in our church’s travels to minister with our partner church in the village of Gnozdovo, in western Russia.

Marshall and Becky have three young adult children. Natalia is married to Cade; they are architects living in Tucson, AZ. Suzanne works in Dallas for a Christian non-profit group, The Akola Project, providing employment and empowerment to women at risk, both in Dallas and around the world in Uganda. Ben also lives in Dallas, working as a landman in the oil and gas industry.

At Church of the Cross, Marshall serves as our primary preacher and worship leader, manages our busy staff, moderates the Session (our leadership body), and is the staff liaison to our Mission Committee.  Marshall loves jazz music, cherry pie, bar-b-que, and talking all things baseball, especially as it relates to his beloved Kansas City Royals.

lyndadinsdaleRev. Lynda Dinsdale, Transitional Associate Pastor

Lynda was born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska and graduated from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln majoring in secondary education. She was a secondary English Teacher in Ogden, Utah, and then a substitute teacher and stay-at-home parent in St. Paul, Minnesota and Austin, Texas.

In 2003, Lynda graduated from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Austin, Texas. Through much of her seminary education she was the Seminary Intern for Women and Older Adult Ministry at Westlake Hills Presbyterian Church in Austin, a 2400 member congregation. In July, 2003 Lynda was called to serve the New Braunfels Presbyterian Church, a 600 member congregation in New Braunfels, Texas as an Associate Pastor. During that time, their Senior Pastor retired leaving Lynda to serve alone for eight months while they searched for an Interim Senior Pastor. Over the last couple of years she has served at New Braunfels with three Interim Pastors and a short-term Head of Staff (there for less than one-year). She definitely has had firsthand experience working with a church in transition, and providing stability in a time of change.

Her continuing education background involves Family Systems Training, Interim Training Week One and Week Two, and Stephen Ministry Leader Training. Lynda is married to Dick Dinsdale, and they have three grown sons.

Lynda has many gifts to share with our congregation, and her experience, spiritual maturity, energy, and compassion will be a blessing for us as we move forward.
