GATHERING IN GOD’S NAME
“My Lord What a Morning”
As the prelude begins, you are invited to begin your personal preparation for worship. Raymond Haan
“In some fundamental way, we construct our world and act within it on the basis on what we worship…this requires that we regularly immerse ourselves in the repertoire of practices and disciplines that recenter us in Christ.” James K.A. Smith
CALL TO WORSHIP (read along – congregation’s parts are in bold)

PRAISE AND ADORATION
HYMN OF PRAISE
#309 “Come, Great God of All the Ages” ABBOT’S LEIGH
Stanza 3: Men Stanza 4: All
Come, great God of all the ages;
make your earthly mission known;
speak through every deed
let your way and will be shown.
Guide the church
to true commitment;
give direction now, we ask;
fit us for the work of building;
dedicate us to the task.
Come, Christ Jesus, flesh and spirit,
sure foundation, cornerstone;
help us form the church eternal;
may your vision be our own.
Send a message to each follower;
lead all people to your way;
urge us to strong faith and action
as we build the church today.
Come, great Spirit, in and with us,
tune our ears to hear your call;
through the moving
of your presence,
let redeeming love recall
Ministry in dedication,
love embodied in our deeds;
challenge us to do your bidding,
see your purpose, fill all needs.
Come, O come, in celebration,
household of the one true God;
in commitment and rejoicing
let us go where Christ has trod;
As we act in faith and reverence,
let us, Lord, the future see;
place us in the church triumphant,
now and for eternity.
CALL TO CONFESSION
PRAYER OF CONFESSION (read along)
Merciful God, you are our peace and in you, we come together as one. But too often we place walls between us and you, and we try to hide from your wisdom and ignore your voice. When we run from you, we ignore your call on our lives to care for one another. Instead, we create division between “us” and “them.” Forgive us. Help us enter into your presence and welcome all people. Inspire us to set larger tables instead of building bigger walls. May we pursue goodness and mercy in your name.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (read along)
The Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

HYMN OF DEDICATION (sing along)
#361 “O Christ, the Great Foundation”
O Christ, the great foundation
on which your people stand
to preach your true salvation
in every age and land:
Pour out your Holy Spirit
to make us strong and pure,
to keep the faith unbroken
as long as worlds endure.
Baptized in one confession,
One church in all the earth,
we bear our Lord’s impression,
the sign of second birth:
One holy people gathered
“in love beyond our own,
by grace we were invited;
by grace we make you known.
Where tyrants’ hold is tightened,
where strong devour the weak,
where innocents are frightened,
the righteous fear to speak,
There let your church awaking
attack the powers of sin
and, all their ramparts breaking,
with you the victory win.
This is the moment glorious
when he who once was dead
shall lead his church victorious,
their champion and their head.
The Lord of all creation
his heavenly kingdom brings:
the final consummation,
the glory of all things.
CHARGE AND BENEDICTION
BENEDICTION RESPONSE (sing along)
“Go Now In Peace” Don Besig
Go now in peace, never be afraid. God will go with you each hour of every day.
Go now in faith, steadfast, strong, and true. Know God will guide you in all you do.
Go now in love, and show you believe. Reach out to others, so all the world may see.
God will be there watching from above. Go now in peace, in faith, and in love. Amen.
“Praise to the Lord, The Almighty”
