Prayer of Confession
Eternal God, You claimed us as Your own in our baptisms and called us to be Your people in our covenants. We confess that we neither live as a people created in Your image, nor lead lives worthy of the calling to which we have been called. Jesus still calls to us, “Follow me.” And we offer excuses, because “we can’t do that.” Jesus calls us to new life in the Spirit, yet we cling to old habits and tired traditions. Gracious God, forgive us of our sins. Open our ears, open our hearts, that we may hear Jesus’s call. Give us the grace and strength to respond in faith and love.  In Jesus’s name we pray.
