Gathering in God’s Name
Prelude — An American Tribute: A Suite of Patriotic Songs, Mvmt. 1 — Robert J. Powell
As the prelude begins, you are invited to begin your personal preparation for worship.
Silent Meditation
And you wait, you wait for that one thing that will infinitely enlarge your life; the gigantic, the stupendous, the awakening of stones, depths turned round toward you. The volumes bound in rust and gold flicker dimly on the shelves; and you think of lands traveled across, of paintings, of the clothes of women found and lost. And then suddenly you know: it was then. You rise, and before you stands the fear and prayer and shape of a vanished year. — Memory, Rainer Maria Rilke
Call to Worship — Psalm 67
May God be gracious to us and bless us!
May God make his face shine upon us!
May God’s way be known upon all of the earth!
May God’s saving power be known among all the nations!
Let the peoples praise you, O God!
Let the nations be glad and sing with joy! Let us worship God!
Praise and Adoration

Confession and Pardon
Call to Confession
Prayer of Confession
Gracious and Loving God, we come to You confessing that we do not always remember the things we should. How quickly we forget what is good in the face of hardship. How tightly we hold onto the offenses of others where we would ask for forgiveness. How often we revisit what “could have been” instead of learning from what has come to pass. Forgive us, Lord. Let our memories come from the soul, and not the body. Open our eyes to Your Kingdom, where it remains unseen before us. Amen.
Silent Prayers of Confession
Kyrie Eleison (#551) –“Lord, Have Mercy” — LAND OF REST
Lord, have mercy; Christ, have mercy; Lord, have mercy upon us.
Lord, have mercy; Christ, have mercy; Lord, have mercy upon us.

The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

Our Response to God’s Word
*Affirmation of Faith — Declaration of Barmen, 8.11-8.13
We believe that Jesus Christ, as he is attested for us in Holy Scripture, is the one Word of God, which we have to hear, and which we have to trust and obey in life and death. We reject false doctrine: we reject the notion that the church would acknowledge as a source of proclamation any event, power, figure, or truth, that does not come from the Word of God. We believe in Christ Jesus, whom God made our wisdom, our righteousness and sanctification, our redemption. Amen.
*Sanctus (#572) — “Holy, Holy, Holy” — SANCTUS (Pavlechko)
Presentation of Tithes and Offerings
Offertory — Shall We Gather at the River — Robert Lowry; arr. David Lantz III
*Doxology (#609) — Praise God, from Whom All Blessings Flow — LASST UNS ERFREUEN
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow. Praise God, all creatures high and low. Alleluia, Alleluia!
Praise God, in Jesus fully known: Creator, Word, and Spirit one. Alleluia, alleluia! alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!
*Prayer of Dedication
Almighty God, we know that you see us. We know that you remember us. You have blessed us beyond measure. Let these tithes and offerings be a way that we see others, a way of showing others that they are not forgotten. Let your will be done. Let your sheep be fed. Amen.
