Together is a local, independent non-profit that was initially conceived in response to the Omaha tornado disaster in 1975 that struck the metropolitan area and left hundreds of families homeless, hungry, and in great need. Together continues to help people in the Omaha and surrounding communities to prevent and end homelessness with a vision to assist in providing safe, affordable housing, food security, along with heath & wellness programs. Together’s case managers utilize financial & employment assistance, financial education, navigation services, food, furniture, bus tickets, and identification to either rapidly rehouse or help keep a family in their home. Presbyterian Church of the Cross has partnered with Together throughout the past several years with volunteer and financial support, and notably every summer with our annual church garage sale. Each year, furniture and housing items not sold are donated to Together to support families moving into new residences, or to provide essentials to families needing assistance and allowing them to afford to stay at their current residence.
Together is making significant positive impacts to individuals and families in our local area and with continued volunteer and partnership efforts it will strive to prevent and end homelessness in our community.
